Body Machine: Plot
Media Architecture Dance

Body Machine: Plot an Interactive Architecture Dance investigation perfromed at BRIC studios Brooklyn, NY, December 12th, 2006

Body Machine: Plot investigates the relationships that arise when the movement of the body translates, controls, and becomes part of a larger media machine. The machine is created using the max/msp/jitter programming environment implementing motion capture techniques. Video, sound, architectural forms and real time motion capture will create a lucid live prototype of Plot. Each plot is captured and stored as a 3D architectural form to be printed at a later time as a physical memory of the event. Body Machine: Plot was performed in improv by I'Nasah Crockett as part of the 4th Annual Brooklyn Dance Sampler. The body was covered with tape to pick up red paper which was used for color tracking. Computer Vision techniques were executed live to gather, organize, and exchange with Max/MSP/Jitter the exact location and amount of movement the dancer was expressing.

Many thanks to I'Nasah Crockett, Tony Schultz, and the organizers of the Brooklyn Dance Sampler.
